THE ORIGINS OF THE NAME ARE MAINLY SAID TO HAVE DERIVED FROM THE COOKED APPEARANCE OF THE DISH WHICH WAS SAID TO LOOK LIKE FROGS OR TOADS POKING THEIR HEADS UP IN A POND.
